Storage in Motion

Rocks tumbling, sticks pulling debris along as they hurry by, branches fallen from trees creating a natural damn redirecting water and animals stepping through leaving their mark on an ever changing stream.

Just as the stream is ever changing, the use of my storage is space is ever changing in our tiny house.

In the summer, I needed beach blankets, camelback's and coolers.  Those have been tucked away and the space is now used for chess, k'nex, school books and teaching totes.  Soon I'll be repositioning these spaces again to make room for gardening, baseball and summer reading.

My shoe storage also reflects the changing seasons: summer sandals are tucked away and leather boots take precedence.

The kitchen is a different story because it's not complete.  I'm forever rearranging the crates for food storage, baking dishes and pots and pans.  The motion has increased now that my husband is installing the stove/oven. One whole side of my kitchen has shifted to the left and is not mostly in our seating area. Thankfully he adjusted it so I still have counter space!  I sure do miss counter space when I don't have it!

Then, there are my tupperware containers.  The food inside of the containers is also ever changing.  I am not complaining; I actually like the versatility of the container sizes.  I like to buy in bulk, but the bulk doesn't stay bulk.  I might only have a couple cups of black beans left but I just bought 25 lbs of popcorn.  The black beans can go in a smaller container and the popcorn can go in every large container I have!

I think maybe our beds are the only things in the house that have stayed in almost the same place since we moved in.

My husband laughs at my desire for variety.

I think Tiny House living is perfect!
